2007 and 2006 Rhone Valley Wines (Jan 2009)

Bright ruby. Alluring aromas of framboise, cherry-vanilla, potpourri and smoky minerals. Completely stains the palate with sweet red and dark berry compote flavors sexed up by candied flowers and vanilla. For a wine with such flavor impact this is shockingly lithe, showing excellent finishing precision and persistence. And it’s awfully seductive right now.

2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Medium cherry-red color. Restrained but complex aromas of black cherry, rose petal and black tea. Sweet, complex and perfumed on the palate, with strawberry, pepper and spice flavors showing subtle layered depth. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and a lovely light touch. This has turned out very well.

2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Moderately saturated medium red. Pungent raspberry, cherry, menthol, smoke and crushed stone on the nose. 2000 and 1999 Red Burgundies (Mar 2002)

Bright red-ruby. Deep aroma of raspberry, flowers, tobacco and sweet oak, along with a suggestion of medicinal cherry. Dense, rich, chewy and deep, but still rather tightly wound. Very solidly structured but not hard. Finishes firmly tannic and impressively long.

2000 and 1999 Red Burgundies (Mar 2002)

Deep red. Aroma of raspberry, cherry and minerals. A step up in density and sweetness from the Vougeot Les Cras and Chambolle-Musigny Les Plantes. Chewier in the mouth but still rather easygoing, with modest real verve and thrust.

2000 and 1999 Red Burgundies (Mar 2002)

Good deep red. Lovely red fruit and spice aromas; the most complex nose to this point. Sweet, minerally and rather full in the mouth; has good size and dimension. Finishes with dusty, even tannins and a slight alcoholic warmth.
