South Africa New Releases: Don’t Deny Yourself (Nov 2019)

The 2016 Series C has a superb bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry, cedar and pressed violets bursting from the glass, the oak nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, harmonious texture and a little more backbone on the finish than the Series M. Excellent.

The 2019 Chenin Blanc Skaliekop is well defined on the nose, with wax resin, lanolin and grilled walnut scents emerging with time. The balanced palate offers a dab of dried honey on the entry, then a little tangerine peel, dovetailing into an understated finish. Fine.
