Champagne – The Season’s New Releases (Nov 2018)

The 2008 Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is one of the most reticent and tightly wound wines of the vintage. To be sure, all the 2008s offer tremendous brightness and punch, but most are also a bit more approachable in the early going. The 2008 Churchill is totally closed in on itself at present. Vibrant…

Bruce’s Birthday Bash 2010 (Jul 2010)

The 1973 Dom Ruinart, from magnum, showed multiple dimensions of complexity, along with an inviting, creamy finish.

Taittinger: Comtes de Champagne 1971— 1998 (Aug 2010)

The 1998 Comtes de Champagne is a different story altogether. This is a sexy, up-front Comtes endowed with lovely richness in its fruit and open, expressive aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity. It does not possess the complexity or nuance of the 2010 Grand Puy Lacoste tasted alongside and it seems more forward….

Bordeaux 2010: All That Glitters… (May 2011)

(79% cabernet sauvignon, 18% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot) Deep ruby. Fresh aromas of red berries, plum, underbrush and minerals. Enters the mouth light and lively, showing clean flavors similar to the aromas. A politely styled Lynch-Bages, this pure, medium-bodied wine shows excellent balance, but some claret lovers might be left wishing…
