1995 and 1994 Bordeaux (May 1996)

Very good deep color. Nose of spicy berries and licorice features an exotic note of citric skin. Attractive floral, ripe fruit offers spicy berry flavor. Finishes with good grip and length, and tannins under control. An impressive showing.

2007 Bordeaux : Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Overpriced (Jul 2010)

Full ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, blackberry, licorice and minerals. Juicy and tightly wound but essentially pliant, with smooth black fruit and licorice flavors complicated by leather and fresh herbs. Classically dry and very Pauillac. Finishes with supple but firm tannins.

2012 Red Burgundy: Against All Odds (Jan 2014)

Dark red cherry, plum, violet, new leather and spice all blossom in the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles. A wine of superior density, the Evocelles stands out for its pliant, expressive personality and pure depth. The 2012 is broad, creamy and expansive, with more than enough stuffing to improve in the cellar for a number of…

The 2012 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Mar 2015)

(60% vendange entier): Bright medium red. Precise but restrained aromas of redcurrant, dried flowers and spices. Suave and energetic, conveying lovely spicy cut and herbal complexity to its currant and plum flavors. An excellent village wine from shallow rocky soil. Finishes lively and long.

2015 Bordeaux: Every Bottle Tells a Story… (Feb 2018)

One of the finest Pauillacs of 2015, Lynch-Bages is rich, racy and voluptuous. A rush of dark red and purplish stone fruit, mint, new leather, spice and blood orange give the 2015 a very decidedly exotic character that is impossible to miss. Raspberry jam, mocha, new leather and expressive floral notes appear with time in…

Finally: Bordeaux 2015 In Bottle (Jul 2019)

The 2015 Lynch-Bages has a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blackberry, graphite, cedarwood and just a touch of spice. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh acidity and well-balanced, but not quite as complex as the aromatics augur. While I like the precision here, it just does not kick in as I expected. Tasted blind at the…
