Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc (Sep 2014)

Greenish yellow. Lively but reticent aromas of citrus oil, ginger and wet stone. Gently sweet and tactile, with juicy citrus and yellow fruit flavors lifted by spicy nuances. Still needs time, but already displays stellar clarity and finishes with vibrant persistence. This is certainly one of the finest sauvignon blancs of the 2012 vintage.

New Non-Vintage Champagnes (Dec 2013)

(effectively the same blend as the regular Grande Dame, with the addition of still pinot noir from Bouzy; LAAAQAQ): Vivid orange-pink. Seductively perfumed aromas of ripe red berries, Asian spices, rose and smoky minerals. Vinous Table: Providence, Los Angeles, CA (Feb 2020)

The 1990 Haut-Brion is exotic, flamboyant and super-expressive. Dark fruit, leather, licorice and grilled herbs are all amped up. Although the 1990 doesn’t quite have the aromatic depth and intensity of the very finest years, it is nevertheless a stunning, gorgeous wine of the highest level.

Good medium color. Fabulous aromas of spicy cherries, minerals, tobacco and smoky oak. Saline entry, then intense, spicy fruit and excellent extract. Very firm and subtle, with outstanding clarity of flavor. Lovely ripe acids and a long, subtle aftertaste. Will no doubt live in the shadows of the larger-scaled, more dramatic ’89, but this very…

1998, 1997 and 1996 Bordeaux (May 1999)

Deep red-ruby. Cherry, redcurrant, raspberry, toffee, minerals and iron filings on the nose. Opulent and deep, with a silky, mouthfilling texture and lovely caramel sweetness. Boasts outstanding length for the vintage. Suave and harmonious.

1998, 1997 and 1996 Bordeaux (May 1999)

Medium red with a pale rim. Pure aromas of cherry, red berries and minerals. Suave and easygoing, with nicely integrated acidity. Finishes with sweet, ripe tannins and subtle berry and vanilla flavors. This has softened considerably in its second year in barrel.
