Bordeaux 2009: The Best Ever? (May 2010)

Deep purple. Coffee, green tea, plum jam and vanilla on the nose. Enters sweet and full, then shows a juicy personality to the black fruit flavors, and attractive stony minerality on the persistent, satisfying finish. A highly successful d’Angludet and a good example of the higher-than-normal overall quality achieved in Margaux in 2009.

The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright ruby-red. Robust aromas of blackberry, chocolate and flowers. Then subdued, dry and classic on the palate, with very good stuffing to its slightly medicinal dark berry, chocolate and menthol flavors. Rather elegantly styled wine with solid tannic structure and very good length.

A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 d’Angludet has a slightly more herbaceous bouquet than its peers, undergrowth and cedar notes infusing the black fruit, sultry at first but opening with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with red fruit on the entry, tobacco and ferrous notes on the back palate but it lacks a little weight and grip towards the…

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2004)

Bright red-ruby. Currant, herbs and smoke on the nose. Rich and suave on entry, then rather closed and austere in the middle palate, with moderately ripe, nicely delineated flavors of currant, cherry, smoke and mint. Best today on the back end, which features broad tannins and subtle lingering flavor.

Vertical Tasting of Chateau Lynch-Bages (Jan 2012)

(78% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot; 3.76 pH; 5.08 g/l total acidity; 58 IPT; 13.3% alcohol): Deep ruby-red. Closed nose hints at blackcurrant, dark plum, smoke and dried herbs. Juicy and dense on entry, then bright and lively in the middle, thanks to vibrant acidity lifting the flavors of…

New Releases from Champagne (Dec 2008)

The 1998 Extra Brut Vintage Celebris is a beautifully focused, linear wine that sparkles on the palate with the essence of white peaches, pears, quince and flowers. This medium-bodied yet structured wine offers phenomenal persistence, along with chalky, minerally notes that give the wine its superb liveliness and sense of freshness. Like many wines in…
