2004 and 2003 Sauternes and Barsacs (Jul 2006)

Good yellow-gold. Very ripe, almost tokaj-like aromas of honey, toffee and coffee. Concentrated, pure and quite sweet, with high-toned, slightly medicinal flavors of nectarine, lemon peel and spicy oak.

Looking Back: 2007 Sauternes (Oct 2022)

The 2007 Sigalas Rabaud has a very refined and pure bouquet with quince, orange blossom and yellow flower scents opening beautifully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a killer line of acidity, taut and fresh with very pure fruit. This is a complex, sophisticated Sauternes that has more freshness and tension than many…

2007 and 2005 Sauternes and Barsacs (Jul 2008)

Full yellow-gold. Deep, brooding aromas of ripe peach and honey. A sweet, peachy fruit bomb with a superb balance of sugar, acidity and alcohol. Still subdued on the back but wonderfully sappy, spicy and long. The most promising wine for this chateau since the superb 2001.

1998 and 1997 Sauternes (Jul 2000)

Captivating, tangy aromas of vineyard peach, pear, white flowers and curry powder. Supple and very concentrated; thick but lively thanks to perfectly integrated acidity. Fruit notes nicely complemented by spice tones. Conveys a tactile impression of extract. Long and strong on the back end. Still quite youthfully unevolved and built for long life.

1997 and 1996 Sauternes (Jul 1999)

Straw-gold. Marzipan, honey and toasted hazelnut on the nose. Moderately viscous and currently rather oaky. Has an impressively chewy texture but is not yet displaying its personality. Finishes with some youthful harshness. The ’97 is at once stronger and finer.

Focus on Sauternes (Jul 1998)

Oily, clove-scented oak and flowers dominate the nose. Juicy and bright, but with a seductive billowy texture. Compelling inner-mouth flavors of ginger, coconut and caraway seed (serve with a Thai curry?). Solid acidity frames and extends the fruit through a long, oak-spicy finish. A very good showing.
