The 2009 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Apr 2012)

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras is surprisingly huge and powerful, even within the context of the vintage. This is a decidedly sumptuous Chambolle that pushes the edge of ripeness. My impression is that the wine needs a few years to shed its baby fat.

2009 Red Burgundies (Mar 2012)

Moderately saturated medium red. Very ripe aromas of red fruits, chocolate and underbrush. Broad, saline, dry and powerful, with its primary fruit flavors currently dominated by sheer ripeness. Gives a low-acid impression but finishes very ripe and classically dry. In an awkward stage today. Roumier notes that he trusts this wine and expressed the opinion…

Domaine Georges Roumier Part 2: Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru (Nov 2022)

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru puts in a very impressive performance alongside the 2010. With plush red fruit, red cherries intermingling with wild strawberries, this is one of Roumier’s most generous Les Cras whilst it retains disarming transparency and precision. The palate is beautifully balanced with crushed stone infusing the red fruit, hints…

2011 Red Burgundy: Three Sides of a Coin (Mar 2014)

The 2011 Ruchottes-Chambertin is almost uncharacteristically dark in its shades of expression. Today, the Ruchottes shows plenty of power and intensity, but less in the way of finesse.

2011 Red Burgundies (Mar 2014)

Bright red. Sexy aromas of cherry, raspberry, menthol and truffley underbrush. Sappy and energetic, with good mineral energy to the flavors of red berries, spices and pepper. Lovely silky wine with a light touch and a firm spine of acids and tannins. A superb 2011 with a long finish.

Simply…..Dom Pérignon (Jan 2009)

These four vintages of Dom Pérignon provide a fascinating snapshot of how the house has performed in recent years. The 1999 Dom Pérignon is a little flabbier than the 2000. Smoke, toastiness, tar and ripe fruit emerge from the glass in a generous, expansive style. The 1999 offers more body than the 2000 but the…
