2008 and 2007 Red Burgundies (Mar 2010)

Good medium red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, minerals and chocolate. Concentrated, lush and sweet, with ripe acidity giving the middle palate a harmonious quality. Finishes with suave tannins and lovely lingering sweetness. This slightly warm wine appears to be shutting down and should probably be held for a few years.

The 2002 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Vinothèque is such a classic wine for the vintage. Explosive and opulent to the core, the 2022 is seriously impressive. The 2016 Les Ormes de Pez has an open bouquet of red plum, wild strawberry, leather and sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, displaying more roundness and softness than its peers, but thankfully harmonious and lightly spiced (Szechuan peppers?) on the finish. Iron, smoke, savory herbs, licorice, pomegranate and blood orange all give the 2016 a distinctly feral, savory quality to play off the bright red toned fruit.
