2006 and 2005 White Burgundies (Sep 2007)

Musky citrus peel, honey, vanilla and flowers on the nose. Dense, solid and fresh, with the element of white flowers perking up the palate. Good flesh nicely framed by a firm edge of acidity. From 40-year-old vines located under Batard-Montrachet.

2011 Red Burgundy: Three Sides of a Coin (Mar 2014)

Dark cherry, tobacco, licorice and sweet herbs flesh out in the Volnay Clos de La Barre, a wine that impresses for its depth, roundness and polish, none of which were easy to achieve in 2011. 2011 Red Burgundies (Mar 2014)

Bright medium red. Very floral aromas of raspberry, cherry pit, herbs and underbrush. Shows a touch of roundness and sweetness on entry, then turns green and lean in the middle, suggesting fruit of only modest ripeness. A bit thin for a Jadot wine from the Cote de Beaune.

The palate is medium-bodied and loose-knit, the Merlot expressive with flecks of bell pepper…

The ‘Legends of Piedmont’ at Crush (May 2006)

1985 A. Conterno Barolo Riserva Granbussia – I had high expectations for this wine, but our bottle showed cloudy color and seemed to be the victim of poor storage at some point in its life.

Vintage Retrospective: The 1985 Barolos and Barbarescos (Oct 2005)

Dark ruby. The Granbussia comes across as a bit more evolved, with a nose that suggests spices and stewed fruits. The tannins are mostly resolved, and this wine is soft and expressive in its rich prune and plum flavors, with terrific overall harmony. It appears to be a wine to drink sooner rather than later.
