2009 Red Burgundies (Mar 2012)

Good full red. Complex, soil-driven aromas of raspberry, rose petal and spicecake. Silky, seamless and youthful, with lovely sweetness to the black raspberry and floral flavors. Builds subtly on the tactile, savory, vibrant aftertaste. Beautifully balanced wine, expressive today but built to reward aging.

The 2009 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Apr 2012)

The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix is marvelously rich and seductive. Dark cherries, menthol and spices are some of the notes that emerge from this supple, pliant Vosne. Here, too, there is more than enough freshness to support at least several years in the cellar. This is a great showing at the villages level.

2009 Red Burgundy (Jan 2011)

Medium red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry and chocolate liqueur. Round and generous on the palate, with a creamy sweetness to the flavors of maraschino cherry, licorice and chocolate. This peppery, savory wine shows no easy sweetness today and finishes a bit disjointed, with somewhat tough tannins. Will this blossom with seven or eight years of cellaring?

The 2009 Red Burgundies (May 2011)

The 2008 Clos de Vougeot possesses notable energy and power, even if today it is quite reticent. The 2008 is a muscular, cool Clos de Vougeot laced with dark fruit. From time to time the wine’s inner perfume emerges, hinting at what awaits those who are disciplined enough to bury this wine in the deepest…

2007 and 2006 Red Burgundies (Mar 2009)

Good medium red, a bit less saturated than the old-vines village wine. Very ripe, multifaceted nose offers dark raspberry, dried flowers and pungent pepper and mineral notes; an essence of Burgundy. Then vibrant and penetrating in the mouth, and a step up in class from the village wines. The bitter cherry fruit is framed and…
