2016 Bordeaux…It’s All In The Bottle (Jan 2019)

The 2016 du Tertre has really come together nicely. There is a sense of translucence in the 2016 that conveys finesse and refinement. Sage, mint, dried flowers and sweet herbs add layers of aromatic nuance as the sweet red cherry and plum fruit is pushed forward. I would prefer to drink this pleasant, easygoing Margaux…

Bordeaux 2010: All That Glitters… (May 2011)

(63% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot and 5% petit verdot) Bright, deep ruby. Fruity, grapey aromas of strawberry, blood orange, tobacco and cedar. Then more blood orange and strawberry jam on the smooth palate, complicated by hints of lavender and musk. Finishes with good but not outstanding length. This Talbot is in an uncomplicated, easygoing style,…

Squares & Circles: Bordeaux ‘10 At Ten (Apr 2020)

The 2010 Talbot is much more backward on the nose compared to its peers, eventually revealing blackberry, briary and light floral scents, pretty but clearly requiring more bottle age. The 2010 Clarets: A Modern Classic (Jul 2013)

Good dark red. Aromas of black raspberry, tobacco, mocha and smoke. Rich, plush and full in the mouth, but with edgy acidity and a peppery note contributing definition to the raspberry and mineral flavors. Not hugely concentrated but juicy, fine-grained and firmly structured wine with excellent balance. A worthy successor to the very good 2009…

The 2010 Clarets: A Modern Classic (Jul 2013)

Good bright, dark red. Sexy aromas of bitter cherry, dark chocolate, mocha, potpourri spices and flowers. Silky and supple but a bit reduced, showing a restrained sweetness today to its dark berry, licorice and floral flavors. Rich and pliant wine, but without quite the tension or perfume for 90 points.

Bordeaux 2010: All That Glitters… (May 2011)

(a blend of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 38% merlot and 12% petit verdot) Opaque ruby-purple. Fragrant floral notes complicate strawberry and mineral aromas. Juicy, fresh and fruity on entry, with lovely red berry and cherry flavors. Shows a distinctly cool, vibrant quality on the back end, finishing with firm, building, fine-grained tannins and lingering fresh red…
