The 2014 White Burgundies: What’s Not To Like? (Sep 2016)

(tasted from tank; already fined): Bright yellow. Aromas of yellow peach and white plum, with a liqueur-like suggestion of mirabelle. Broad, rich and dry, showing a sexy fine-grained mouthfeel. This dense, classic village Puligny conveys an impression of laid-back energy and finishes with lovely lift and finesse.

2013 and 2012 White Burgundies (Sep 2014)

Pale, bright lemon-yellow. Lemon candy and wet stone on the youthfully discreet nose. Then tactile, dusty and sharply delineated on the palate, and more dominated by minerality in the early going than the Charmes. Suave, juicy wine with a powerful impression of energy. 1997, 1996 and 1995 Bordeaux (May 1998)

Deep ruby-red color. More expressive aromas of crystallized dark berries, dark chocolate and animal fur. Lush and sweet; thick but delineated. Wonderfully concentrated. The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2004)

Medium red-ruby. Redcurrant, mineral, pungent cocoa powder and a rustic hint of leather on the nose. Rich but dry, with currant, leather and game flavors firmed by harmonious acidity. Distinctly sauvage Pomerol with good length and plenty of personality. (My sample of the ’03 seemed quite green, and was too clenched to assess.)
