Faiveley’s Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley: 1986-2015 (March 2019)

Good full medium red with just a trace of amber. Alluring, vibrant aromas and flavors of red and darker berries and salty minerals. A silky, savory, very pure midweight with subtle intensity and harmonious framing acidity providing excellent definition and a delightful light touch. This beautifully balanced, minerally wine finishes with lovely rising length and…

Domaine des Lambrays’ Clos des Lambrays 1966-2012 (Apr 2019)

Moderately saturated red. Wonderfully suave, mellow, inviting scents of raspberry, mocha, smoke and underbrush; the most resolved and integrated nose to this point of the tasting. A classic, harmonious Clos des Lambrays with impeccable balance and a wonderfully refined, silky texture to its flavors of red cherry, red berries, mocha and underbrush energized by high…

The Good, Bad and Ugly: Burgundy 2010, 2003 & 2004 (Jun 2020)

The 2003 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets Saint-Georges 1er Cru offers light soy-tinged red fruit on the nose, turning chocolaty with aeration and maintaining decent definition. The palate is medium-bodied with soft red fruit, overripe strawberries mixed with leather and spice, rather attenuated and missing some grip toward a finish that fades in the glass….

2002 and 2001 White Burgundies (Sep 2003)

This is much more expressive than it was initially with plenty of vibrancy and excellent purity with fruit and flavors that are much finer and with better finesse, complexity and length than the Jeunes Vignes. This is really quite pretty and offers good acidity to buffer the dense sappiness and this should drink well on…

2002 and 2001 White Burgundies (Sep 2003)

This too is rather exotic but delivers more aromatic elegance and finesse as well as fuller-bodied flavors that have better depth of character and more overall weight and length. That said, this is very forward and should drink well with minimal bottle age.

2002 and 2001 Red Burgundies (Mar 2004)

Medium red. Deep aromas of red fruits, minerals, smoke and game. Broad, supple, rich and sweet; this has more flesh for its tannins than the Petite Chapelle. Finishes with good length. This cuvee is steadily improving as the substantial portion of the vines planted in 1986 mature.
