2011 Red Burgundy: Three Sides of a Coin (Mar 2014)

Fourrier’s 2011 Morey-St. Denis Clos Solon wafts from the glass with sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, savory herbs and mint. A delicate, fragrant wine, the 2011 looks to be a delicious, tasty Burgundy to drink pretty much upon release and for at least a few years thereafter.

2011 Red Burgundies (Jan 2013)

Bright medium red. Lovely lift and precision to the aromas of red cherry and redcurrant. Juicy and on the lean side, offering good fruit intensity and a touch of smoky minerality. Fresh on the finish.

2004 Barolo: The Cream Rises to The Top (May 2015)

The 2004 Barolo is a real stunner. Still deep, dark and intense, the 2004 impresses for its power and pure volume. Dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather and menthol are some of the many notes that open up in an ample, full-bodied Barolo long on class and personality. At ten years of age, the 2004…

The 2023 Pinot Noir Estate is very shut down and tightly coiled today, hesitant to express much beyond a brooding, powerful tannic structure. Black sage, lavender and pomegranate coyly sizzle up from the glass with much coaxing. This needs considerable time to flesh out and put on some weight. Old school all the way.

Santa Barbara: California’s Undiscovered Jewel (Aug 2024)

The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is a total delight. Fresh, aromatic and very pretty, the 2023 is all class. Freshly cut flowers, red-toned fruit, orange peel, spice, mint and white pepper soar out of the glass. This deceptively medium-bodied Pinot is such a charmer. A dollop of stems (10%) adds perfume without dominating…
