The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2003)

Good full red-ruby. Rich, mellow aromas of currant, plum, mocha and oak. Dense, seamless and deep, with burnished plum and tobacco flavors enlivened by very good vinosity. Lush, suave wine, finishing with sneaky length.

Passing the Baton: Lynch-Bages 1945-2018 (Jul 2023)

The 2000 Lynch-Bages is well defined on the nose with blackberry, cedar, humidor and crushed rose petals, one of the most elegant of this era. Though powerful and rich, with a…

Finishes with very fine tannins that coat the teeth. Seems quite accessible already, but certainly has enough freshness to evolve in bottle over the next decade or more.

Superripe aromas of red cherries macerated in alcohol, leather, lead pencil and sweet spices. Very forward and open-knit on the palate, with earthy black fruit flavors complemented by coffee, licorice and bay…

Soft, supple and delicate in the glass, the 2003 Vintage is super expressive today. Smoke, brioche, apple tart and spice notes flesh out in a resonant, impeccably layered Champagne loaded with personality. I can’t think of a young Krug Champagne that delivers this much pure pleasure at such a young stage in its life. The…
