The 2009 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Apr 2012)

The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Clos des Forêts Saint Georges comes across as dark, brooding and totally intense. Black cherries, tar, licorice, smoke and menthol are some of the many notes that are woven together in this rich, deep wine. There is a baritone register to the fruit that is absolutely gorgeous. The powerful, structured…

2009 Red Burgundies (Mar 2012)

Good bright, dark red. Raspberry liqueur, truffle and chocolate on the inviting nose. Smooth and creamy, with compelling sweetness to the concentrated raspberry and chocolate flavors. The wine’s mineral and pepper notes and substantial tannins give it a good spine for aging.

Focus on Champagne (Nov 2005)

Very fine mousse, with abundant bubbles. Medium straw color. Strong notes of yeast and butter on the nose, along with tangerine and Meyer lemon. Plump and supple on the palate, showing tropical flavors of fresh pineapple and papaya. Quite graceful in texture, finishing with subtle notes of mace and cinnamon. An impressive showing.

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2004)

(blend based on 62% cabernet sauvignon) Medium red-ruby. Aromas of roasted plum and nutty oak. Fat, sweet, broad and suave, with gentle flavors of redcurrant, plum and game. Aromatic and gentle in the mouth. Long, ripe finish features substantial but sweet tannins. Lovely claret.

New Releases from the Tuscan Coast (Jan 2021)

The 2018 Massetino, here in its second release, picks up where the 2017 left off. Let’s start with what is plainly obvious. Massetino, the second wine of Masseto, is more complex and nuanced than most flagship wines in Tuscany’s Maremma. The 2018 beautifully balances energy, aromatic depth and fruit intensity. Mocha, cedar, leather, licorice and…
