New Vintage Champagne Releases (Nov 2004)

Very pale color. Wonderfully complex, musky aromas of minerals, ginger, lemon, earth, mushroom, smoke and brioche; with aeration, this showed sweaty saline and chicken broth notes that reminded me of Le Montrachet, as well as a captivating topnote of fresh rose petal. Fat, ripe and mouthfilling without being at all heavy. Loaded with flavor and…

2010 and 2009 White Burgundies (Sep 2011)

(from Narvaux): Vibrant aroma of orange oil. Sweet, opulent and very ripe but with terrific verve to the soft citrus flavors. Superb village Meursault with lovely minerality giving grip to the long, fresh finish.

Vinous Table: Providence, Los Angeles, CA (Feb 2020)

The 2009 Meursault is similarly rich and tropical, but also comes across as quite young next to the 2002, which is an ever-present reminder of how these wines can age. Although the 2009 is gorgeous, if I owned it, I would try to give it more time in bottle.

Champagne’s Golden Age (Nov 2015)

Cellar Favorites: Château Latour – 2017 Library Releases (May 2017)

A wonderful surprise today, the 2011 Les Forts de Latour is terrific. Pliant, silky and racy, the 2011 offers considerable suppleness and sheer appeal. Hints of sweet tobacco, herb, licorice, cloves and leather add aromatic nuance throughout, but it is the wine’s overall balance and feel that are most impressive. The 2011 will drink nicely…

2011 Bordeaux from the Bottle (Jul 2014)

Bright red-ruby. Fresh dark berries, flint and herbs on the nose. Spicy and taut, offering good lift to its blackcurrant and herb flavors, but high acidity gives this wine an almost shrill quality. Slightly pinched on the finish, with the blackcurrant and licorice notes repeating.
