Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reds: The Flamboyant 2014s and the Structured 2013s (Apr 2016)

Bright ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of candied dark fruits, peppery spices and vanilla carry a smoky mineral overtone. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reds: The Flamboyant 2014s and the Structured 2013s (Apr 2016)

Deep red. Perfumed scents of red and dark berry preserves and peppery spices carry a pungent floral overtone. Sweet and focused on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and lavender pastille flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. The berry and floral notes repeat on a slightly rigid finish framed by dusty, slow-building tannins.

The Lord Giveth…Burgundy 2023 (Jan 2025)

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is more backward and a little earthier in style on the nose, with apple blossom and light flinty scents. For all of its upfront intensity, this leads to an elegant, polished, refined and remarkably long finish layering peach, candied citrus, red fruit, nut oils, honey, slate and spice. Incidentally,…

Allegrini Amarone: 1982 – 2004 (Apr 2010)

The 2003 Amarone is the complete opposite of the 2004, but it is every bit as convincing. Allegrini’s 2003 Amarone literally explodes onto the palate with masses of black cherries, chocolate and spices. It is a decidedly opulent, racy wine loaded with dark fruit, but the balance is impeccable. In the style of the vintage,…
