Bordeaux 2009: The Best Ever? (May 2010)

Dark red. Violet, sweet smoky oak and a hint of black pepper on the inviting, perfumed nose. Easygoing and sweet, with pliant flavors of black cherry, dark berries and smoky milk chocolate. Finishes with round tannins and subtle sweet, spicy length. Not a gripping style but very typical of Chasse Spleen, if more concentrated and…

A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Chasse-Spleen has a simple, earthy bouquet, a little dustiness at first although that soon dissipates with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly soft tannin on the entry, moderate depth, well-judged acidity with a sandalwood and tobacco infused finish that has a spring in its step. The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright, moderately saturated red-ruby. Raspberry and licorice aromas and flavors are lifted by a violet topnote. Juicy and nicely ripe, with harmonious acidity energizing this medium-bodied wine. Finishes with firm tannins, a note of fresh herbs and good length, turning a bit dry as it opened in the glass.

Amarone: New Releases (May 2017)

Deep ruby-red. Herbal red cherry and flowers on the nose and mouth. Then sweet, simple and straightforward with good juiciness and precision to the suave red fruit flavors. Finishes clean and with hints of torrefaction on the smooth, long back end. (15.5% alcohol)

The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright medium ruby-red. Brooding aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice and iron. Densely packed and plush, with noteworthy depth to its flavors of dark fruits, smoky minerality and iron. Not the last word in lift or personality but chewy, rich and chocolatey-ripe, and long on the aftertaste. This wine, and especially the special Le Plus de…

2006, 2005 and 2004 Bordeaux (May 2007)

Ruby-red. Pretty aromas of red cherry, floral perfume and spicy oak. Not fleshy but lively and fine, with fresh cherry, redcurrant and mineral flavors lingering nicely on the aftertaste. Tannins are supple and sweet.
