2017 Barolo: Here We Go Again… (Feb 2021)

The 2017 Barolo Ravera is rich and explosive in the glass. Soaring aromatics lead into a core of red/purplish fruit, all framed by insistent but well-integrated tannins. A vivid, large-scaled Barolo, the Ravera is superb today. It is one of the most alluring Barolos I have tasted from Ferruccio Grimaldi in some time.

Cellar Favorite: A Landmark Vintage – Henschke 2021 (Apr 2025)

The more difficult vintage is on display in the 2017 Shiraz The Wheelwright, which is relatively simple with bright plum and blueberry tones. Lightweight and understated with soft tannins, this is best enjoyed soon.

Now, For My Latest Trick: Burgundy 2022 (Jan 2024)

The 2022 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is an imposing young wine. A blast of blue fruit, lavender, licorice, gravel, crushed rock and menthol saturates the palate. This bruiser is going to need time to be at its best, but it is pretty impressive, even in the early going. – Antonio Galloni

Sweet and incisive on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cherry liqueur, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Deepens steadily…

Seven Australian Cabernets from 2015 (Jun 2021)

The 2015 Dry Red Wine No. 1 from Yarra Yering comes from vines planted in 1969 on gray silty loam. This is a more classically styled Australian red insofar as you can clearly tell the country of origin, but it has pretensions toward the Médoc. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and pure red…

2022 Sonoma Preview: A First Look (Jan 2024)

The 2021 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard is a super-classic wine off this site. Hints of tropical fruit, mint, pineapple, apricot and dried pear convey the essence of Charles Heintz. The 2021 is exquisitely beautiful, finishing oily and rich but not at all heavy.
