2011 and 2010 Southern Rhone Wines (Jan 2013)

Vivid ruby. Heady, spice- and floral-accented aromas of candied dark berries and cherry, with a bright mineral overtone. Rich but energetic on the palate, offering sappy blackberry and cherry-cola flavors that show excellent clarity and lift. Fine-grained tannins give shape and grip to a long, smooth, penetrating finish.

New Releases from Southern Italy (Mar 2011)

Ruby-red. Balsamic red cherry, ripe plum, graphite, milk chocolate and herbs on the nose. Enters dense, juicy and suave, then turns sweeter and softer, with balsamic, extremely ripe red fruit, cassis and coffee shake flavors joined by herbs and flint. Rose petal, bright red stone fruits and mint are some of the nuances that give the 2004 its lively, expressive personality. Silky tannins add considerable appeal today, but the 2004 also has more than enough depth to drink well for many years to…

2004 Brunello di Montalcino (Jul 2009)

Good deep red. Sexy nose offers raspberry, spices, coconut, dried flowers, tobacco and potpourri: almost Lafite-like. Then suave, complex and energetic in the mouth, offering lovely vinosity to the sappy red fruit and floral flavors. Finishes long and vibrant, combining enticing sweetness and firm, saline grip. Really spreads out horizontally on the back.
