The 2013 & 2012 Red Burgundies (Apr 2015)

Violets, lavender, menthol and blue/purplish-hued fruits emerge from the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers. Deep, pliant and exceptionally polished, the Cazetiers comes across as impeccably balanced today. Lifted aromatics balance the sumptuous fruit in an expressive, textured Cazetiers long on finesse.

The 2013 Red Burgundies (Jan 2015)

Healthy deep red. Sexy red cherry and smoked meat on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Dense, sappy red fruit flavors show a distinctly primary quality and good juicy cut. Firmly built, youthful wine with good density and thrust.

Herding Cats: Burgfest 2020 – The Reds (Oct 2024)

The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose, opening gradually in the glass. It offers more red fruit than its peers. Rosehip and touches of tobacco emerge with time. Nicely focused, but this takes time to cohere. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit, muscular compared to its peers,…

Further Inroads Into Burgundy 2020 (May 2022)

The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru offers very pure red berries, undergrowth and rose petal scents on the nose, fresh and ethereal in style. This is very…persuasive. The palate is beautifully-defined, the 80% whole bunch impacting freshness and salinity, filigree tannins with an abundance of tension on the finish. Class from start to finish.

Pol Roger: 2022 New Releases (Mar 2022)

The 2013 Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is fabulous. Rich and remarkably pure, the 2013 is super- expressive right out of the gate. Bright saline notes cut through a core of lemon confit, dried flowers, apricot, tangerine peel, mint and sage. As compelling as the 2013 is, it really needs more time to open a…

Now, For My Latest Trick: Burgundy 2022 (Jan 2024)

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a delicate but appealing bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, delicate and transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with a tannic entry. It’s a little sharp, with dark berry fruit and a slightly constricted, Morey-like finish that has some bitterness on the aftertaste. Fine.
