2000, 1999 and 1998 Bordeaux (May 2001)

Red-ruby. Exotic, liqueur-like aromas of cherry, raspberry and five-spice powder. Offers terrific size and volume on entry, then a major wave of lush, fat fruit. Impressively ripe and mouthfilling for the vintage. Finishes very long and ripe, with big, palate-dusting tannins. One of the richest wines of the vintage.

1997, 1996 and 1995 Bordeaux (May 1998)

Very good deep red. Red cherry, raspberry, oak spice, toffee, sweet butter and a hint of raisin on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with an almost medicinal entry and fine acidity. It’s the eucalyptus aspect that really defines the finish, something that I was not expecting. Does that…

Pump Up The Volume: 2019 Burgundy – Blind (Dec 2023)

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Belair 1er Cru has a well-defined nose, the fruit here darker than its peers. Blackberry commingles with raspberry, briar and neatly-integrated oak, and there is clever use of whole bunch here. The palate is sweet and ripe on the entry, fleshy in texture and very pure in terms of its red fruit…
