Barolo and Barbaresco (Nov 2013)

(14.5% alcohol): Good bright red. Cherry liqueur, raspberry and red licorice on the nose. Omne Trium Perfectum: Bordeaux 2019s in Bottle (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou comes from 25 hectares on the western part of the appellation (10 hectares currently being re-planted) with declassified La Croix and Ducru Beaucaillou. Uncertain Smile: Bordeaux 2019 (Jun 2020)

The 2019 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou has a tightly-packed bouquet with bold blackberry, bilberry and iodine scents. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is suave and velvety in texture. A very polished wine, moderate in terms of depth with a marine-like piquancy towards the classically-trained, tobacco-infused finish. Very fine.

2019 Bordeaux from Bottle: The Two Towers (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is plush, creamy and open-knit, all of which give it considerable immediacy, not to mention tons of charm. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha and licorice lend nuance in this racy, Merlot-based blend. The Petit Ducru is a new wine meant to be the third selection from the château.

The Marital Margaux: d’Issan 1945-2015 (Jul 2018)

The 1983 d’Issan has quite a pale appearance for what was a reputed Margaux vintage. The palate offers light red cherry, undergrowth and sandalwood aromas that suggest it has become rather fatigued in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin; grippy in the mouth though it is pinched on the finish, powdered…
