2005 and 2004 Red Burgundies (Mar 2007)

Moderately saturated medium red. Red cherry, herbs and stony minerality on the lively, pure nose. Suave and juicy in the mouth but a bit dry and bony, with an herbal complexity to the intense red fruit flavors.

2002 and 2001 Red Burgundies (Mar 2004)

Medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of strawberry, mace, cinnamon, tree bark and espresso. Juicy and on the lean side, with modest flesh and concentration. Less ripe than the Chaboeufs, as Meunier harvested early for fear of getting rot. With less fat, this finishes a bit more dry.

Musky aromas of smoked meat and minerals. Juicy, stony and fresh, with good pinot verve and cut. Nicely concentrated, horizontal wine; spreads out to coat the entire palate. Finishes subtle and aromatic, with fine, sweet tannins.
