2008 Sauternes and Barsacs (May 2010)

Bright light gold. Ripe cling peach, fresh apricot, spices, coconut, minerals and white flowers on the nose, with a note of vanillin oak emerging with air; subdued but wonderfully pure and precise. At once thick and light on its feet, showing an utterly seamless texture and compelling sweetness but also lovely inner-mouth tension thanks to…

Vinous Table: Burgundy Charity Auction and Dinner (Jul 2014)

Bonneau du Martray’s 2006 Corton-Charlemagne (magnum) opens with a super-classic bouquet of slate, crushed rocks and hints of reduction. Bracing and intense and energetic, the 2006 flows with superb focus and pure mineral-drenched cut. Vinous Table: Napa in the City 2022: The BYOB Gala Dinner (Feb 2023)

The 2002 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon is creamy, opulent and engaging right out of the gate. Plush, silky tannins wrap around a core of red-toned fruit, hard candy, sweet spice and flowers. The 2002 is unquestionably an extrovert.

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2003)

(a blend of 79% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 4% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc) Good deep red-ruby. Musky black cherry, raspberry, leather, licorice and herbs on the slightly medicinal nose. Sweet, supple and fruity, with herbal and licorice flavors framed by brisk acidity. Distinctly peppery in the middle and on the slightly hard-edged finish….

2014 Bordeaux: A September Surprise (Feb 2017)

The 2014 Connetable de Talbot is an attractive, open-knit Saint-Julien to drink now and over the next few years, while the red stone fruit and floral notes remain fresh. Silky tannins add to the wine’s considerable near-term appeal. This is a very nice second wine.
