Napa Valley Trilogy: 2014, 2015 & 2016 (Dec 2016)

BOND’s 2013 Matriarch is a rich, powerful wine, the 2013 Matriarch captures all of the intensity of the vintage. Even with all of its up-front fruit, the 2013 is going to need at least a few years for the tannins to soften. Vibrant red cherry, purplish fruit, wild flowers and spice notes infuse the super-expressive…

2013 Napa Valley: Once Upon a Time in America… (Oct 2015)

The 2012 Matriarch is plump, juicy and generous, with plenty of dark red cherry, plums, new leather, cinnamon and floral notes. The succulent, open-knit style is a terrific example of the year. Matriarch is a blend of fruit from various sources in the BOND program that don’t make it into the vineyard-designate bottlings.

New Releases from Napa Valley: 2012 and 2013 (Dec 2014)

The 2011 Matriarch is soft, silky and quite pretty. Naturally the 2011 is a smaller-scaled wine than normal, but there are no hard edges. I would prefer to drink the 2011 over the next few years, while the fruit is supple and forward. Hints of red cherry, mint and tobacco add to an overall impression…

California’s North Coast (May 2014)

Deep ruby-red. Expressive aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice and minerals show moderate depth. Then lively and nicely delineated but tightly wound in the mouth; distinctly leaner than the single-site wines, showing less depth and chewy mid-palate to support its slightly dry tannins.

2013 Napa Valley: Once Upon a Time in America… (Oct 2015)

The 2012 The Maiden is super-refined, polished and expressive. Crushed flowers, sweet red berries, mint, pine and cinnamon are some of the signatures. Open-knit and medium in body, the Maiden is racy and super-polished to the core. It is feminine, lifted in style and well-suited to near-term drinking.

Brilliance in Napa Valley: 2016 & 2015 Cabernets (Jan 2018)

The 2014 The Maiden is a gorgeous, finely-knit wine long on class and pedigree. All of the signatures of the vintage come through in the wine’s precise, nuanced personality. Freshly cut flowers, bright red stone fruit and mint give the wine its lifted, gracious personality. Drink this sublime, medium-bodied wine over the next 10-15 years.
