Now, For My Latest Trick: Burgundy 2022 (Jan 2024)

Only two people own vines in this vineyard, although Jacques Carillon labels his as Champs Canet. The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de La Jacquelotte 1er Cru has a slightly candied bouquet with orange blossom, grapefruit and touches of peach skin, quite generous whilst retaining satisfying freshness. The palate is very well-balanced with a smooth texture. It’s…

2017 Barolo: Here We Go Again… (Feb 2021)

The 2017 Barolo Ravera is rich and explosive in the glass. Soaring aromatics lead into a core of red/purplish fruit, all framed by insistent but well-integrated tannins. A vivid, large-scaled Barolo, the Ravera is superb today. It is one of the most alluring Barolos I have tasted from Ferruccio Grimaldi in some time.

Cellar Favorite: A Landmark Vintage – Henschke 2021 (Apr 2025)

South Australia, Victoria and a Bit Beyond (Sep 2022)

Deep violet. Highly perfumed, mineral-accented black and blue fruit, exotic spice, potpourri and incense aromas show excellent clarity and pick up hints of woodsmoke and vanilla as the wine opens up. Sweet and incisive on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cherry liqueur, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Deepens steadily…

Seven Australian Cabernets from 2015 (Jun 2021)

The 2015 Dry Red Wine No. 1 from Yarra Yering comes from vines planted in 1969 on gray silty loam. This is a more classically styled Australian red insofar as you can clearly tell the country of origin, but it has pretensions toward the Médoc. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and pure red…
