Bordeaux 2015 At Age Ten (Jun 2025)

The 2015 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a conservative, complex yet reserved nose with tobacco- and graphite-tinged black fruit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is a little drier than some peers though this has held on to its smooth texture. This is just a little meatier on the finish than I recall. I am…

The 2013 & 2012 Red Burgundies (Apr 2015)

The 2012 Morey St. Denis is even prettier in bottle than it was in barrel. Pliant and expressive, yet also medium in body, the 2012 is beautifully balanced throughout. Dark red cherries, spices and new leather are some of the many notes that grace the lovely, inviting finish in an attractive village-level Morey to drink…

The 2012 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Mar 2015)

Bright medium red. Deeper-pitched on the nose than the village Gevrey, offering scents of strawberry, mocha and earth. At once plush and fresh on the palate, with flavors of strawberry, raspberry and spices nicely framed by harmonious acidity. A lovely village wine with considerable early appeal

The 2013 & 2012 Red Burgundies (Apr 2015)

Dujac’s 2012 Morey St. Denis shows the exuberant side of the year, even if reductive notes mask some of the purity of the fruit. Bold pomegranate, spice, plum and orange peel notes emerge from a pliant, expressive Burgundy that at present shows some slightly angular contours that need bottle age to soften.

Buckle Your Seatbelts: 2019 Brunello and 2021 Rosso di Montalcino (Dec 2023)

Darkly floral and with a mentholated lift, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino slowly blossoms in the glass with a blend of stone dust, dried cherries, pine shavings and sweet smoke. This is softer and more supple than expected, yet quickly builds with a mineral tension combined with tart wild berry fruits as the slightest trace…

1998 and 1997 Rhone Valley Wines (Jan 2000)

Medium plummy red. Open nose combines red plum, redcurrant, tobacco, cinnamon and earth, plus hints of chocolate and licorice. Round and gentle in the mouth, with good balance for the vintage but only moderate depth of flavor and structure. Fairly tannic finish, but the tannins are fine. Will provide early pleasure.
