Thrice Is Nice: Bordeaux 2020 in Bottle (Feb 2023)

The 2020 Les Gravières lacks a bit of definition on the nose, black cherries and cassis, a little monotone perhaps. The palate is sweet and tannic on the entry, but this feels a bit forced and lacks elegance and complexity on the finish.

Champagne: 2020 New Releases (Aug 2020)

The 2012 La Grande Année Rosé is airy, gracious and so wonderfully inviting. Crushed flowers, mint, white pepper and red berry fruit are all gracefully woven together. New Releases from Australia (Jul 2003)

Deep, dark red with a faint purple edge. Wild, briary, spicy aromas of dark plum, blackcurrant, white pepper, clove and dried herbs. Smooth, willowy palate steeped in intense, spicy dark fruit flavors and tightly balanced with fine-grained tannins and vanillin oak. Very long on the finish. One for the cellar.

Aged cedary spice shows a little development but the overall impression is of a wine with time on its…

New Releases from Australia (Jul 2003)

Very dark purple-edged red. Brooding, very closed nose suggests dark plum, cassis and blackberry, intermeshed with dark chocolate and cedary oak notes and a whiff of briar. Assertive and powerful; a long-term red whose rich palate of dark fruit is tightly integrated with a firm spine of youthfully astringent tannins. Tough and rather unyielding at…

Best New Releases from Australia (Jul 2001)

Bright medium ruby. Sexy, complex nose features dark berries, black cherry, roasted coffee, chicory and smoky, spicy oak. Lush and concentrated, with pliant but juicy flavors of cherry and berries; some tar and herbaceous notes emerged with extended aeration. Finishes long and bright, with firm, fine tannins and substantial oakiness.
