Northern Rhône: Solid ’14 Reds and Outstanding ’15 Whites (Jul 2017)

Brilliant ruby. Blackberry, cherry cola, incense and potpourri on the deeply perfumed nose. Sappy black and blue fruit flavors are complicated by suggestions of candied violet and spicy cracked pepper. Finishes long and appealingly sweet, offering harmonious tannins and lingering floral character.

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a similar fruit profile to the Gevrey Village and a poised yet persistent, black-pepper-tinged finish. Give this two or three years in bottle.

A clean, energetic style that’s balanced to reward patience….
