A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Lynch-Bages has a very expressive bouquet with cedar and tobacco infused black fruit, light tertiary scents emerging with aeration. These aromatics feel very elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent fleshy opening that betrays the backbone to this Pauillac. Slightly powdery in texture, plenty of cedar and mint towards the assertive finish,…

A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Lynch-Bages has an intense bouquet which is more forward than Grand Puy Lacoste, albeit without the same complexity. Layers of blackberry, bilberry, brine and a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannin, slightly lower in acidity than the 2010 Lynch Bages, dense and quite sinewy towards the finish. It might…

The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright ruby-red. Very pure, perfumed aromas of blackberry and licorice. Dense, generous and deep if youthfully tightly wound, with sweet black fruit flavors nicely framed by sound acidity. Finishes with serious tannic clout and complex saline and peppery notes. An extremely backward and very impressive Lynch Bages for serious cellaring.

Passing the Baton: Lynch-Bages 1945-2018 (Jul 2023)

The 2009 Lynch-Bages is very well defined on the nose, yet powerful with ample fruit to spare: blackberry, wild strawberry, cranberry mixed with cedar and a light mint touch. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and lightly spiced with superb focus. It exerts a gentle grip from start to…

A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Larrivet Haut-Brion feels a little pinched on the nose, quite backward with black cherry and light black olive scents, becoming more marine like with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, slightly grainy in texture with brown spices sprinkled over the structured finish that feels a little bitter and rustic. Not sure…

The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Red-ruby. Liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, strawberry, mocha and smoky roasted herbs; a southern style of Bordeaux. Supple, sweet and elegant, with ripe, expressive flavors of red fruits, mocha and herbs complicated by leather and underbrush. Harmonious ripe acidity gives lift to this sexy wine. Finishes with a saline quality and lovely length. Drink over…
