New Releases from the Tuscan Coast (Sep 2006)

(80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% cabernet franc) Dark ruby-red. Appealing smoky, minerally aromas of red cherry, blackcurrant and plum, with a hint of truffle. Quite suave on entry, then smooth and fine-grained, with good mineral lift to the decidedly sweet red fruit flavors. This broad, rich and supple wine boasts tremendous length and silky-sweet tannins….

Pages in the Photo Album: Vieux Château Certan 1928-2013 (Mar 2022)

The 1967 Vieux Château Certan is a vintage that I had not tasted previously, a well-regarded one for Pomerol. Maybe because of the vintage reputation, I was a little underwhelmed by this showing. The Best New Wines From Spain (Sep 2005)

Saturated purple-ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, gunflint, chocolate, minerals, flowers and sexy nutty oak. Wonderfully lush, creamy and sweet, with extraordinary concentration of dark fruit, mineral and floral flavors. A wine with no corners, and hard to scrape off your palate. Broad on entry, then expands to a new dimension on the back half….

1996 Champagne – For The Ages (Oct 2014)

A head-turning beauty, the 1996 Dom Ruinart Rosé boasts gorgeous, resonant fruit to match its considerable structure and intensity. Although quite pretty and expressive, the 1996 has enough balance to develop gracefully in bottle for years to come.

New Wines from the Tuscan Coast (Jul 2003)

Saturated dark ruby. Sultry aroma of crushed blackberry complicated by a whiff of cinnamon. Layers of earthy, mouthfilling blackberry flavor are supported by gauzy tannins and a welcome core of acidity, followed by white pepper and graphite on the pliant finish. Supple and elegant.

Best New Releases from Spain (Sep 1998)

Deep red. Superripe aromas of currant, espresso and iron. Dense, ripe, fruity and youthful. Supple and generous, with good supporting acidity. Really fat with fruit but seems less powerfully structured than the ’86. The firm finish builds and builds.
