2009 Red Burgundy (Jan 2011)

(just racked) Good bright red. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, mint and graphite. Supple, sweet and juicy, with a rather cool character and good definition to its gently extracted cherry flavor. Finishes firm.

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques is showing just a fraction of its true personality. Dark red fruit, minerals, and flowers come together in this textured, highly expressive Burgundy. 2009 Red Burgundies (Mar 2012)

Good full red. Complex, soil-driven aromas of raspberry, rose petal and spicecake. Silky, seamless and youthful, with lovely sweetness to the black raspberry and floral flavors. Builds subtly on the tactile, savory, vibrant aftertaste. Beautifully balanced wine, expressive today but built to reward aging.

Sound acidity and a touch of minerality give shape to the persistent finish. These generally late-ripening hillside grapes benefited from the warm season. In a rather…

2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Good bright full red. Explosive aromas of flowers, minerals, smoky oak and underbrush. Tight and youthfully imploded in the mouth, and a bit hardened by the gas. This peppery, savory wine shows no easy sweetness today and finishes a bit disjointed, with somewhat tough tannins. Will this blossom with seven or eight years of cellaring?
