2006 Barolo: A Modern-Day Classic in the Making (Feb 2010)

The estate’s 2006 Barolo Sorì Ginestra is massive and intense. Layers of aromatic nuance and complexity are backed up with powerful, dense fruit. Saturated ruby red. Knockout nose offers raspberry, coffee, smoke, minerals and flowers, all lifted by a peppery nuance. 2017 Barolo, Part 2: The Late Releases (Oct 2021)

The 2016 Barolo Rocchettevino opens with pretty aromatics, but the tannins and overall structure feel pushed and out of balance. Perhaps in time, the 2016 will find better integration. Today, it is disjointed and aggressive, with bruising tannins that show little, if any, sign of ever relenting.
