Dance the Quickstep: Burgundy 2020 (Dec 2021)

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée La Colombière offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, touches of wilted iris and peony, a light pepper note in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain, quite edgy tannins. Citrus fresh, quite vibrant with a fine tension on the finish.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château has quite an earthy bouquet, quite loamy and hints of hoisin developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, a bit rustic within the range this year, broad-should red compared to say, the La Colombière.

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grands Vignes Blanc 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose with red apple, light orange blossom and grapefruit aromas that unfurl in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, slightly tapered towards the finish whilst maintaining fine freshness. Drink early to capture its youthful vivacity.

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Cras 1er Cru offers a melange of red and black fruit on the nose, well-defined with a touch of undergrowth and black truffle. It takes time to unfold in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, a crisp bead of acidity, quite saline with a fresh…

Dance the Quickstep: Burgundy 2020 (Dec 2021)

The 2020 La Romanée Grand Cru showed a little reduction on the entry. This takes time to unfurl on the nose, luscious black cherries, blueberry, pressed violet and orange blossom. There is a sensuality here that I think distinguishes it from its famous adjacent fellow monopole. The palate is medium-bodied is very well balanced with…
