2017 White Burgundy: Quantity, Quality and Great Charm (Sep 2018)

(from 30-year-old vines): Bright medium yellow. Aromas of yellow fruits and menthol are complemented by smoky minerality. A bit tighter on the palate than the village wine, with ripe lemony acidity giving it better balance and vivacity. Slightly edgy on the very dry finish but shows good spicy lift.

2013 and 2012 White Burgundies (Sep 2014)

(2011 was the first vintage for this cuvee, which is a blend of three parcels): Bright pale yellow. Sexy, vibrant aromas of lemon, lime, mint and white flowers. Silky and supple in the mouth, with ripe acidity giving shape to the flavors of pineapple and grapefruit. An attractive, persistent village wine with the balance to…

2007 and 2006 Red Burgundies (Mar 2009)

Good bright red. Knockout nose melds musky, smoky soil tones, raspberry, blood orange, white pepper and coffee; wild and exhilarating. At once suave and electric on the palate, with wonderfully complex and alive flavors of raspberry, pungent minerals, pepper, smoked meat and dried flowers. This dense and intense but youthfully tight wine saturates the mouth…

Vinous Lockdown Special (Oct 2020)

Lemon confit, marzipan and white flowers add that extra touch of inner perfume and…

Back to Burgfest: 2017 Whites – Blind (Aug 2021)

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a little SO2 to address on the nose, though behind it are pretty, floral aromatics with plenty of fruit. The palate delivers a tangy entry and fine acidity. Lightly spiced with sour lemon toward a finish that does attenuate slightly and leaves you wanting more. I ended up liking…

2017 White Burgundy: Quantity, Quality and Great Charm (Sep 2018)

Bright yellow. Lemon drop and oil, peach, hazelnut and flowers on the subtly complex nose. Tactile and brisk on entry, then thick and energetic in the middle palate, conveying a distinct impression of sweetness countered by pure saline minerality. The wine’s peachy fruit hints at almost honeyed ripeness without losing its verve. Finishes with outstanding…
