2012 Red Burgundy: Against All Odds (Jan 2014)

The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny is striking. Dried rose petals, crushed berries, mint and licorice all waft from the glass effortlessly. Supple, racy and medium in body, the 2012 impresses for its persistence and pure Chambolle charm. All the elements fall into place beautifully. The 2012 is a gorgeous wine that should offer a wide window of…

2012 Red Burgundies (Jan 2014)

Bright medium red. Red fruits, spices and herbs on the complex, slightly reduced nose. Nicely dense and juicy, with the red fruit flavors enlivened by spices, herbs and saline minerality. Finishes with a hint of licorice. Shows good intensity for this cuvee, which has been much improved in recent years.

2018 Burgundy: Confounded Expectations (Jan 2020)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village has a pretty, vivacious bouquet of very well-defined red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity and a touch of tomato vine toward the finish. Leaner than the 2018 but displays decent length.

The palate is sorbet-fresh on the entry with a fine line of acidity, and lightly spiced with red fruit merging with more…

The 2012 Red Burgundies from Bottle (Mar 2015)

Healthy dark red. Wild, expressive nose combines raspberry, redcurrant, coffee, game and leather. Ripe, broad and sweet, but also with very good energy and thrust to the flavors of raspberry, milk chocolate and minerals. Really saturates the palate without leaving any impression of undue weight. The serious, ripe tannins should support slow development in bottle….

2012 Red Burgundy: Against All Odds (Jan 2014)

One of the more expressive, layered wines in the range, the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin (Vieilles Vignes) boasts stunning depth and pure textural richness. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice, menthol and spice notes all flesh out in a supple, inviting Burgundy loaded with near-term appeal.
