2017 Bordeaux: The Heart of the Matter (May 2018)

The 2017 Lagrange, 100% Merlot, offers lovely brightness to play off the natural juiciness of the year. Red cherry, plum and floral notes grace the palate in this silky, nuanced Pomerol. Medium in body and nuanced, Lagrange will likely drink well with minimal cellaring. This is really quite lovely.

1999, 1998 and 1997 Bordeaux (May 2000)

Moderately saturated ruby-red. Rather subdued aromas of plum, currant and game. An accessible midweight, with ripe, oak-enhanced tannins and good length. Not at all dilute. A good lunch wine and a good first wine for dinner, says Tesseron.

2015 Bordeaux: Every Bottle Tells a Story… (Feb 2018)

The 2015 Lafon-Rochet is gorgeous. Beautifully layered and polished in the glass, the 2015 oozes with pedigree. The flavors are bright and beautifully delineated throughout. Rose petal, mint, savory herb and bright, red-toned fruit add to the wine’s vivid, nuanced personality. In 2015, Lafon-Roche is all class. The blend is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot,…

Finally: Bordeaux 2015 In Bottle (Jul 2019)

The 2015 Lafon-Rochet has a lifted, perfumed bouquet of ample blackberry and raspberry aromas. The oak here is nearly entwined with graphite and cigar box aromas developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, quite filigreed tannin (for a Saint Estèphe) that frame a smooth, quite pure blackberry and strawberry finish with…

2007, 2006 and 2005 Bordeaux (May 2008)

(60% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot) Bright ruby-red. Pungent, musky aromas of black cherry, licorice and shoe polish lifted by a violet topnote. Juicy and sweet but also firmly built, with decent purity of fruit but only modest flavor intensity. Finishes with solid tannic spine for the year. Nicely…

Bordeaux 2018: Not Back in Black (Mar 2021)

The 2018 Lafon-Rochet is such a classy wine. Power and finesse meld together in this Saint-Estèphe that is gorgeous, right from the very first taste. Black cherry, herbs, leather, licorice and dried flowers all build in the glass. In 2018, Lafon-Rochet is richer and bolder than it usually is, and yet all the elements are…
