2011 Red Burgundies (Jan 2013)

Good medium red. Spicy red and black cherry aromas lifted by a floral note. Rich, round and spicy, showing good tension and sexy earth tones to the cherry and stone flavors. Finishes juicy and sweet, with dusty tannins.

The 2015 Red Burgundies: You Are So Going To Want Them (Jan 2017)

Dark red-ruby. Very precise aromas of dark berries and smoky minerality convey a stronger impression of energy than the Amoureuses. In a distinctly savory, dark style, showing more smoky minerality than easygoing fruit today. This rather clenched, solidly structured wine finishes with big but fine-grained tannins. Erwan Faiveley describes this wine as our entry-level Gevrey…

Ten Years On: Burgundy 2013 (Oct 2023)

Former winemaker Benjamin Leroux oversaw the 2013 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 1er Cru, though Paul Zanetti told me he finished the aging in barrel. The palate is medium-bodied…

Then plump and fine-grained but bright, showing moderate complexity and depth but lovely delicacy and precision to its dark fruit and spice flavors. A strong dusting of tannins avoids…

The 2013 Red Burgundies: Fascinating and Challenging (Mar 2016)

(30% new oak): Deep red with ruby highlights. Cool aromas of purple fruits complicated by a wild gamey element. High-pitched blue and black fruit flavors are framed by strong acidity and accented by a light peppery quality. A bit rigid in the early going due to its firm tannic spine but this wine shows impressive…

2011 Red Burgundy: Three Sides of a Coin (Mar 2014)

As it often is, the 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is one of the highlights in the range. Silky, layered and polished to the core, the 2011 is open and inviting today. Sweet floral and savory notes flesh out on the resonant finish. In 2011, the Vieilles Vignes is all about silk and finesse.
