The 2010 Clarets: A Modern Classic (Jul 2013)

Dark red. Inviting aromas of redcurrant, coffee, brown spices and truffley underbrush. Supple, sweet and on the soft side, offering dark berry and light herbal flavors of moderate intensity. This midweight finishes with dusty tannins and decent persistence.

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2006)

Good deep red. Red raspberry, roast coffee and an overlay of toasty oak on the nose. Sweet and inviting, with supple, fresh red fruit flavors and a seamless texture. Finishes with good breadth and sneaky persistence, with fruit that coats the palate. This has turned out very well.

Champagne: 2021 New Releases (Nov 2021)

The 2008 Dom Pérignon is a huge, powerful Champagne and also clearly one of the wines of the vintage. This is one of the most reticent bottles I have tasted. So much so that I am thinking about holding off opening any more bottles! The 2008 has always offered a striking interplay of fruit and…

Dom Ruinart at Cru, New York (Oct 2008)

2005 and 2004 Rhone Valley Wines (Jan 2007)

Ruby-red. Powerful red and dark berry aromas verge on liqueur-like but are enlivened by zesty mineral and anise accents. Lush, supple and sweet, with deep raspberry and cherry flavors, fine-grained tannins and complicating herb and smoked meat tones. Very smooth on the finish, which is sappy, deep in cherry flavor and impressively long.

1982 Bordeaux, 20 Years On (Jul 2002)

Full medium ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of sour cherry candy, currant syrup, violet and minerals. Thick and rich, but a bit unyielding owing to its solid spine of acidity. Still rather youthfully austere on the finish.
