2005 Bordeaux: Here and Now (Apr 2021)

The 2005 Gazin is a powerful, structured Pomerol. Red berry fruit, iron, white pepper, chalk and mint lend quite a bit of brightness. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2005 packs a serious punch, with huge, persistent tannins that lend shape and explosive energy through to the finish.

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2006)

Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, blackberry, mocha, coffee and sexy oak on the slightly liqueur-like nose; very Pomerol. Dark red. Explosive aromas of currant and plum jam, game and leather. Downright velvety in the mouth, with compelling sweetness of fruit and pliancy of texture. In Good Taste: Branaire-Ducru 1928-2013 (Mar 2020)

The 2005 Branaire-Ducru is a vintage tasted many times. It unceasingly offers a ripe bouquet in the context of this Saint-Julien with red berry fruit tinged with cedar and sous-bois. More approachable than its peers, it is an expressive 2005. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well balanced with a stocky, almost burly cedar-infused…
