Tuscany New Releases: Maremma, Montepulciano & More (Apr 2018)

The 2015 Masseto is simply extraordinary. Soft, silky and seamless, the 2015 possesses remarkable balance and harmony from the very first taste. What surprises me most about the 2015 is how fresh and vibrant the flavors are. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, mint, and wild flowers are all beautifully lifted in this exquisitely perfumed, gracious Masseto….

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2003)

Good full medium ruby. Superripe, exotic aromas of roasted currant, smoked meat and cocoa powder. Sweet, lush and silky, with compelling depth of texture and an intriguing gamey note. Very long finish features lush tannins.

Good full medium red. Complex aromas of red fruits, truffle and underbrush. Lush and sweet but firm, with bright acidity and building tannins providing plenty of structural support. The dark fruit flavors display very good ripeness but are currently shut down by the wine’s serious mouthcoating tannins.

The Enigma of 2018 Barolo (Feb 2022)

The 2018 Barolo is very pretty and light on its feet. Sweet floral and spice accents lend lovely aromatic presence. In keeping with the style of the year, this is an especially ethereal, weightless wine.

Vertical Tasting of Château Magdelaine (Mar 2012)

(a blend of 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc; 3.53 pH; IPT 65; 13.8% alcohol): Bright ruby. Sexy, compelling nose of blackcurrant, violet, white pepper and minerals is an absolute knockout. Then very refined on the palate, with a delicate spiciness to the blackcurrant, red plum and mineral flavors, but with noteworthy fleshiness and ripeness…
