Future Memories: DRC 2022 In Bottle (Feb 2025)

The 2022 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru was picked on 1 September at 37.3 hL/ha. It is not quite as deep in color as the La Tâche. But in another way, this is more immediate and comes out with all guns blazing, a kaleidoscope of red berry fruit, crushed stone, cumin, traces of Earl Grey and undergrowth….

2022 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti: The Lightness of Being (Mar 2025)

The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru is absolutely exquisite, not to mention a significant step up in the range. Impossibly silky tannins and deep, penetrating aromatics give the Echézeaux its seductive personality. Medium in body and polished, with phenomenal balance, the Echézeaux shows how compelling the vintage is. There is no heaviness at all, nor any…

Future Memories: DRC 2022 In Bottle (Feb 2025)

The 2022 Échézeaux Grand Cru was picked on 11 and 12 September at 42.9 hL/ha. This was impressive out of barrel. It soars from the glass with black cherries, raspberry and white-tipped strawberry, the floral element (violets) less prominent compared to its showing from cask. There is just a hint of cumin in the background….

The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of dark chocolate on the entry, a fine bead of acidity, quite lush in style yet it retains control from start to finish. Fine mineralité…

2022 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti: The Lightness of Being (Mar 2025)

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a creamy, exotic white. Apricot, lemon confit, slate, white flowers and chamomile lend a good bit of flair. Oily and dense, with terrific balance, the Charlemagne is quite the looker. It explodes on the back with a rush of citrus and mineral-laced inflections that leave a lasting impression.

Future Memories: DRC 2022 In Bottle (Feb 2025)

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru was picked 8 to 13 September at 52.4 hL/ha. This is the fourth vintage since its debut. The 2022 has a complex bouquet, leaning a little more toward yellow fruit, hints of vanilla pod and melted candlewax. Perhaps there was a soupçon more mineralité in the 2021, which would be…
